My response to the daily prompt titled Darkness which asks;
Write a new post in response to today’s one-word prompt.
Hello darkness my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again.
The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel, awesome song which I’ll link to below for anyone who is basically musically illiterate and lives under a rock when it comes to music.
What else do we have for darkness? Fear? It’s sort of a primal fear probably related to the fact that we can’t see in the dark but there are plenty of predators that can, which when you think about it like that it makes sense to fear the dark. Again that’s probably why we set most horror films at night, monsters lurking in the darkness.
Then you get crap like the dark side and light side to represent good and bad. Light = good and bad = dark. He turned to the darkness, the dark arts (by which I don’t mean politics), the dark lord, darkness spread across the land. We hear or read these things and we know that they are tainted by evil in some fashion.
Am I reading too much into all of this? Probably, so here is The Sound of Silence for you all to enjoy.
