Daily Prompt: Seven Wonders

Today’s daily prompt is called Seven Wonders and it asks;

Khalil Gibran once said that people will never understand one another unless language is reduced to seven words. What would your seven words be?

Nope. Not doing it. This is a stupid idea.

Language and words are a beautiful thing. They are a very important thing. If we only had seven words we could not adequately express how we are feeling.

We could not discuss or demonstrate complex ideas. Literature, science, mathematics, philosophy would all cease to exist.

This is a really really really stupid idea. This sounds like the sort of thing they did in George Orwell’s 1984. If you restrict a persons or societies vocabulary you can make it impossible for them to formulate ideas or opinions because they will have no words with which to form them or express them. Even inside their own heads.

This has really annoyed me now. This prompt is evil. I started out not caring thinking this is dumb but the more I think about it the more this is pissing me off. Something I can only do because I have more than seven fucking words. You just want to restrict what we can say and what we can think you nasty little cretin. Well bollocks to that.

And big deal if we don’t ever fully understand one another. Does that matter? Wouldn’t that be a bit boring if we did? Getting to know someone is fun, you can know someone for years and never know everything about them. But if you only had seven words you know everything about them after a one bloody sentence.

No this is a dreadful idea. Complete bullshit. I’m not having it. I am forming the resistance. We just need a catchy name.

And to think my initial thoughts were that I was disappointed that this had nothing to do with the Seven Wonders of the World. Bigger things are at stake.
