Today’s daily prompt is called West End Girls and it asks;
Every city and town contains people of different classes: rich, poor, and somewhere in between. What’s it like where you live? If it’s difficult for you to discern and describe the different types of classes in your locale, describe what it was like where you grew up — was it swimming pools and movie stars, industrial and working class, somewhere in between or something completely different?
I assume the title is some kind of reference? If so I don’t get it.
Secondly oh boy what a prompt. I notice race, religion, and ethnicity has been completely left out of the question which I get why, bloody hell do I get why, but it makes it impossible to answer. It seems to becoming a bigger and bigger factor sadly. Maybe as a kid you don’t notice it because you are naive about such things but in recent years it really does seem to be a bigger deal, for some people at least.
This really feels like one to avoid.
Just gonna say I’m working class. I live in a very multicultural area. Most of it is working class with a little bit of lower middle class. No fancy rich or posh crap here.
Yeah I’m leaving it there.
Next!
I love the word “Posh” 😮
Why?
It sounds posh
I suppose it does a little
Okay, you asked for race and ethnicity? Here it is: http://judydykstrabrown.com/2015/08/20/true-west-social-stereotypes-in-a-south-dakota-small-town/
