Todays daily prompt is called The Object of My Dejection and it asks;
Tell us about the object of your dejection — something you made, a masterpiece unfinished, or some sort of project that failed to meet your expectations. What did you learn from the experience? How would you do things differently next time?
Basically everything I’ve ever done. I love starting projects, stories, essays, blog posts, pictures, songs, games, you name and I’ll start it, I’ll spend hours planning out every minute detail, but I’m not good at actually seeing things through.
It’s harsh to say that don’t meet my expectations because they are unfinished.
Seriously I have three folders full of notepads and sheets of paper filled with story ideas, some have very detailed outlines, some actually have chapter by chapter planning, some just have vague plot points. I also have half a dozen blog posts I’ve started but not finished.
What do I learn from the experience? Well clearly nothing because I keep doing it. I need to learn some discipline and focus. I’m distracted too easily. Oh look there’s a cat outside in the garden.
