Things that vex me… Hairdressers

Welcome back to another edition of things that vex me, a place where we take a look at and have a little moan about all those things in life that annoy us.

This week was inspired by a recent trip to the hairdressers.

Recently I was at the hairdressers and don’t you just hate it when they want to chat about all your plans  and everything and anything, but you just want them to cut your hair, so you can leave and carry on with your day. Do you know what I am talking about or does this just happen to me?

I don’t know about you, but I find it so full on,  and it can become awkward with some hairdressers, especially if you have little to nothing in common. At times I’m sat there like I don’t care, I just don’t care, I have no interest in what you are saying, but you can’t just zone them out and ignore them because that would be rude, and you can’t just walk away either.

Yes there’s the old weather chat – “ooo nice/horrible weather today isn’t?” – and what are you doing today/this weekend but once they are done, there can be nothing  to talk about and it becomes forced small talk.

More so, I get a bit worried that some hairdressers get so engaged with conversation that they are not concentrating on cutting my hair. I mean they have scissors in their hands, so they need to be careful.

I went to the hairdressers recently and thankfully for once she wasn’t trying to talk to me the whole time. I think they need to be good at knowing who wants to talk and who doesn’t, some need to learn or improve this skill.

Feel free to tell us about your own vexing stories/experiences at the hairdressers, either in the comments or your own blog post.
Also send us suggestions of those vexing things in life.
